Some friends passed along this delicious recipe - super simple and oh so good!
It is easily doubled and a double recipe fits nicely into a regular 13x9 pan.
In a 2 quart bowl, mix with a fork:
1 cup
sugar
2 tsp. baking
powder
3/4 cup sifted flour
1 tbsp soft
shortening
Stir in 1/2 cup evaporated milk and 1 tsp. vanilla
until well blended.
Stir in:
1/2 cup coarsley chopped nuts
3 cups peeled, cut up apple
Stir until coated with batter, then spread evenly
into a greased 9x9 inch pan.
Mix with a fork until crumbly:
2 tbsp. brown
sugar
2 tbsp. softened
butter or margerine
1/3 cup flour
Sprinkle over apple mixture in the
pan.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 30-40
minutes. Enjoy with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on the side.
